About Us
After completing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Movement Studies at the University of Queensland in 1999, I taught for 6 years in both Australia and the UK. It was during this final year that my sister Nicole noticed a gap in the fitness industry for mums, after having her first child Lachlan and I decided to leave the schoolyard and take my education to Mums and the outdoors. With my passion and enthusiasm for health and fitness and keenness to help others and make a difference to their life, Mums-ercise was born.
In September 2006 after obtaining my Certificate IV in Personal Training, I began offering post natal mum and babe classes in parks and clients homes throughout Brisbane. Initially classes were limited during the week whilst I continued to pursue my other love, representing the Queensland Firebirds in the National Netball League. Since then however Mums-ercise has expanded to not only cater for post natal women, but also pregnant clients with our 'Power through pregnancy' sessions, Dads and everyday males and females. At the start of 2007 we added ‘Vibration Training’ classes to our repertoire and this has grown in popularity at a phenomenal rate. Vibration training is proving to be a fantastic, time efficient alternative to attending the gym and as more people try this new form of exercise, the word continues to spread about the great benefits and effects it is having. With Australians working longer, finding time to exercise can be extremely difficult and this is where vibration training is changing people’s lives.
At the start of 2008, Mums-ercise opened its first boutique vibration studio in Hawthorne, Brisbane, offering clients a cardio theatre, vibration training suite and infrared sauna treatments under one roof. In addition to the outdoor group sessions, beginning in 2008, Mums-ercise has been awarded the contract by the Brisbane City Council to run their free 'Mum and Bub' park sessions on the Southside of Brisbane. Mums-ercise is continuing to expand and hopes to become the first place mums in Brisbane turn to when they want to improve their health, fitness and wellbeing.
